Sobriety plan: what are the measures for motorists? News from Auto Plus in your smartphone News from Auto Plus in your mailbox

Since the beginning of the year, the situation has been very tense in all areas. Between the war in Ukraine, with fuel prices skyrocketing, so is inflation, and electricity, which is also rising, nothing is going well. Admittedly, the situation has improved a little for gasoline, thanks in particular to the 30-cent discount introduced by the government. But it may be that prices will rise very sharply from November 1, the date of the transition to 10 kopecks. Moreover, this is another problem that the French now have to face: possible lack of electricity. Production is really low, probably too little to be able to handle the coming winter properly.

The plan is under development

In particular, in order to better cope with the tension in the electricity network, as well as in the gas network, the government plans to introduce various measures. They will be grouped together in an unprecedented “sobriety plan” to be unveiled soon, probably within the next few hours. This will, in particular, include an incentive for remote work in the administration, as well as measures for private companies. But that’s not all, because motorists will also suffer. As explained by our colleagues from BFM-TVofficial vehicles will have to obey a speed reduction of 20 km/h on motorways (110 instead of 130) and 10 km/h on expressways (100 instead of 100)“.

.

Encourage carpooling

From January 1 next year, the government is also to offer a €100 check for use on the payment platform. car sharing, to encourage motorists to adopt this practice. There was no mention of a drop in overall speed on motorways, but that should probably remain on the minds of our leaders, although the idea is often on the table. Other measures, such as lowering the temperature in swimming pools or reducing lighting in businesses, will also be considered.
