Sales of electric vehicles reached a new record in the first half of 2022. Automakers have never sold so many electric cars (and hybrids). Electric cars are now represented 12.2% of registrations in France. A conclusion that is also confirmed in other European countries and confirms the enthusiasm of customers for electrified engines. Here are the best selling electric models on the European market from January to June 2022.
Best-selling electric models
Sales of electric models fell greatly accelerated in this year 2022. The creation of ZFEs, or restricted traffic zones, has largely contributed to the acceleration of these sales. Just like the announcementprohibition of the sale of diesel locomotives until 2035, made by the European Commission. Aid offered by various European states also facilitates access to an electric car. Electric cars are presented in detail 1 in 5 car sales. Unsurprisingly, Tesla is the leading manufacturer of electric cars in Europe, but the American manufacturer is closely followed by the electric cars of the Stellantis group. Electric cars, a more competitive offer
The growth in sales of electric cars can also be explained by a a significant increase in supply. An estimated 90 electric models are available on the market today, compared to 66 a year ago. Looking at the table, we can see that Tesla is firmly at the top of the ranking Model Y and Model 3. But the electric sedan of the American manufacturer is increasingly threatened by the Fiat 500e, which continues to beat sales records in France and Europe in recent months. Significant growth in sales of the small 500 should allow it to take the second place among the best-selling electric cars in Europe in 2022.
This classification also testifies to this Four new models take a strong place in the TOP-30 sale of electric cars. These are BMW iX (9,532 sales), Kia EV6 (13,252), Hyundai IONIQ 5 (17,096) and Tesla Model Y (44,472).
One last interesting observation: sales of electric vehicles stagnated in Europe this summer. Stagnation that should not tarnish the progress of electric vehicles.
