Since the beginning of the year, the situation has become particularly difficult for motorists. Because of this, price growth has generally gone out of control, and this is in all areas. Starting with fuel, and gasoline and diesel have literally soared in recent months. So much so that service stations sometimes quoted more than €2.30 per litre! This is enough to prompt many French people to cut back on their trips, sometimes even for business purposes. Fortunately, the situation has improved somewhat, as on September 1st the government introduced a 30 centime discount on diesel, as well as unleaded gas, as well as LPG and E85. Aid is supplemented by 20 cents offered TotalEnergies.
I am introducing a bill aimed at reducing gasoline taxes in the face of record high fuel prices and taxing oil company dividends.

Price drop
Unfortunately, these discounts will not last. In fact, they will fall to 10 cents each from November 1 before disappearing at the end of the year. But it may be that prices will also fall. It already seems to have started a few days ago. Indeed, according to the latest assessment of the Ministry of Environmental Transition, a liter of diesel fuel has decreased, while it is shown at 1.66 euros on average. This corresponds to a drop of 3.7 cents for the week. Very good news for big wheelers, although this fuel is still a bit more expensive than petrol. This trend has been observed for several months, and it is throughout the territory.
Gasoline stagnates
at his side the price of gasoline continues to stagnate. Indeed, according to the latest readings, a liter of unleaded 95 costs €1.55, while E10 costs around €1.49. That corresponds to a drop of barely a penny in one week. A liter of SP98 costs 1.59 euros on average. Now let’s hope that prices continue to fall a little more steadily. And let’s cross our fingers that they don’t flare up again when the discount ends next December, like it did in Germany.
Faced with rising petrol prices in France, motorists are doubling down on their ingenuity to save money. This is the case with this Breton, the inventor of… the water engine! https://t.co/P98rql2pON
