As we know, soon all manufacturers will have to go fully electric, and the European Union wants to ban the sale of thermal cars from 2035. The deadline is relatively close, forcing brands to accelerate electrification. And that’s a good thing, because most of them are already planning big changes over the next few years. In particular, this applies to Opel, which has announced its desire to become a 100% electric brand from 2028. It currently only has two zero-emission models in its range, namely the Corsa-e and the Mokka-e, but that should change soon. Indeed, other novelties are expected, including a new one electric crossover planned for 2025.

Engine connected

This new model, to be named Manta-e, is set to adopt a never-before-seen design with an all-new SUV-coupe silhouette. Then there is no doubt that it will be heavily inspired by the design of the new Peugeot 408, recently unveiled. Unsurprisingly, and as announced by our colleagues at Caradisiac, this newcomer will have a 100% electric motorization 170 and 245 horsepower, which provides a range of up to 700 kilometers thanks to batteries from 87 to 104 kWh. Several versions will be available, with two or four drives and one or two electric motors, but we’ll still have to wait before we know a little more about it.

Spacious model

According to our colleagues, this Opel Manta-e can accommodate up to five people on board and will have the advantage of a large wheelbase. The electric crossover also benefits from many features, such as voice control and Internet data sharing. Note that this newcomer will also be equipped with semi-autonomous control. It is expected that in 2025 it will be produced in Italy, at the Melfi factory. It should show an entry ticket of around €60,000.
