A few weeks ago, we warned you about a disturbing new practice. And it is not for nothing that the environmental collective The Tire Extinguishers took to deflating the tires of all the SUVs they encountered to protest against these vehicles. They are indeed accused of all evils, and in particular of contributing to global warming. If it is true that this type of silhouette sometimes consumes a little more fuel and emits more CO2, not sure that its effect is so strong on the future of our planet. Anyway, SUV today is the object of choice for certain environmental extremists, who sometimes do not hesitate to go further than just flat tires. Their goal: to dissuade motorists from choosing this type of vehicle. And for this, the teams do not skimp on funds.

Scratched bodies

Indeed, the activists did not find a better idea how to scratch the bodies of SUVs standing on the street. So far these degradations have only been reported in Belgium, but no doubt this should unfortunately give ideas to others. In the city of Watermael-Boitsfort, more than a dozen motorists had an unpleasant surprise when they saw a scratched car. But this is not just a keystroke, but a message that has been engraved. On one of the vehicles we can actually read the inscription “SUV climaticide”. It’s just that. If nothing was declared, the British collective Fire extinguishers for tires nevertheless welcomed this initiative. Worrying, isn’t it?

What is the fine?

So far, no case has been registered in France. But if this happens to you, know that you can turn to justice. In this case, it is important to file a statement and try not to touch anything, so that the police may take fingerprints. After that, keep in mind that such a practice is considered an act of vandalism and is strictly punishable by law. In the event of minor damage, the person responsible bears a fine of 1,500 euros and a fine of work of general interest (TIG). This is especially true when a mirror or window is broken. Then the penalty increases to 2 years in prison and a fine of 30,000 euros in case of greater damage.
