The Stellantis group moves to recall of Jeep Grand Cherokee (WK2) models. but also RAM 1500 (DS)produced between 2012 and 2019: what all these cars have in common is that they are equipped with an engine 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V6.

These vehicles are equipped with a high pressure fuel pump defective, which may fail prematurely. Failure of a high pressure diesel fuel pump can cause debris to enter the fuel system, potentially leading to fuel loss.

Jeep Grand Cherokee: 29,279 units affected

According to US authorities, a lack of fuel can lead to an unexpected loss of power and increase the risk of a crash. In general, not less than 138,645 vehicles affected by the recall: 29,279 examples of Jeep Grand Cherokeeas well as 109,366 RAM 1500 models.

These Jeep Grand Cherokee models were produced between Wednesday, December 19, 2012, and Thursday, October 13, 2019, when the V6 EcoDiesel engine was no longer available on the SUV. The affected RAM 1500s were manufactured between Wednesday, June 12, 2013, and Friday, December 13, 2019.

Full manufacturer support

A letter notifying you of this recall with a reference number Z46, was sent to owners of affected vehicles this summer. They are invited to make an appointment with a Jeep or RAM dealer to repair your car.

All the operations that allow you to eliminate the problem are supported by the manufacturerfree of charge: replacement of fuel injection pump, as well as diagnostics and replacement of additional elements of the fuel system.

A future recall in Europe?

However, the American manufacturer has not announced any possible compensation for owners who have already incurred the cost of repairing this high pressure fuel pump problem. Some users have indeed noticed loss of power and a hole during accelerationand had their vehicle repaired prior to the official publication of this recall.

And even if the recall only affects the United States at the moment, it is quite possible that a similar recall campaign will also see the light of day in Europe, since during the same period Jeep Grand Cherokees were also sold on the Old Continent with the same V6 diesel engine.
