If a British firm MG having made a name for itself in Europe with its small sports cars and compact sedans, after bankruptcy in 2005 the company was acquired by the Chinese group NAC (Nanjing Automobile Group), which later became SAIC (Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation).

In the 2010s, MG Motor finally announced its revival with the arrival of a a new generation of models which have replaced each other in recent years, with thermal, hybrid and 100% electric cars.

MG7: the new sports sedan

After the MG ZS, EHS, Marvel R, MG4 and other MG5s, the British firm now announces the arrival of a new sedan to its range, which will be fully unveiled on 17 August 2022: MG7the largest of the MG sedans at 4.88 meters long.

This MG7 has a particularly sporty “fastback” sedan-coupe look reminiscent of its Audi A7 Sportback competitor, and is distinguished by an aggressive grille, flowing side lines and a deep hood.

MG7 Black Label: high quality sports finish

The rear part has wide hips, as well as a retractable spoiler, which emphasizes the optics with a characteristic light signature. Large diameter rims also complete the sporty look of this MG7 that we can see in these first images.

The model also has a grand opening new “Black Label” finish. in MG, which brings more luxury and sportiness, and which stands out with black inserts and badges. There’s also a quad exhaust port that announces the presence of a heat engine.

MG7: two internal combustion engines and one hybrid

Under the hood we do find a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine 257 horsepower and 405 Nm of torque, paired with a 9-speed ZF automatic transmission. 1.5-liter turbo version 185 horsepower and 300 Nm associated with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission, and a plug-in hybrid version will complete the range in 2023.

This MG7 will soon be sold in China, but MG has not yet confirmed its export to Europe: indeed, on the Old Continent, the British manufacturer seems to prefer electrified engines, which does not necessarily exclude this large sedan with its battery hybrid engine.
