If the automotive sector is experiencing a a difficult period due to shortages and delays in deliveries, manufacturers manage to limit themselves to the case for now. Universal brands manage to draw from big profit in the first half of the year, despite a long-term decline in sales. There is one sector that stands out in particular for its very good financial health, what a luxury.
Ferrari and Lamborghini network records
Two Italian brands are doing great, with record sales and record profits for the first 6 months of the year. Maranello has sold more than 6,700 models in this first half of the year. Figures that allow the Italian brand to revise its forecasts for the whole of 2022 upwards in terms of sales as well as profits. Because the second quarter is excellent for the brand’s pure profit prancing horse an increase of 22% amounted to 238 million euros.
Same story with Lamborghini. The Volkswagen Group brand sets a new sales record Since the beginning of 2022, 5,090 cars have been sold. Thus, Lamborghini’s turnover reached 1.33 billion euros operating margin of 425 million euros. This is an increase of almost 70%!
“We have just completed an exceptional first half despite the continued uncertainty caused by the geopolitical situation. The forecast is also positive, as orders received already cover all production in 2023.Stefan Winkelmann, CEO of Lamborghini, emphasized.
If the two Italian manufacturers are showing impressive numbers, other luxury car brands are also doing very well. This applies, for example, to Porsche and Bentley. Or for Rolls-Royce just delivered 3,190 cars since the beginning of the year.
Automobili Lamborghini completed its most profitable semester ever.
Out of 5,090 units, the Urus’ impressive success accounted for 61% of sales, with the Huracán and Aventador accounting for the remaining 39%.

Luxury SUVs make up the bulk of sales
Such success of luxury brands is connected primarily with high markups obtained from the sale of expensive models. Another explanation for this success can be summed up in three letters, SUV. All luxury brands now offer this option in their catalog, which convinces more and more customers. For example, in Lamborghini the Urus accounts for over 60% of sales. A success that can also be seen in Aston Martin with the DBX, Bentley with the Bentayga and Rolls-Royce with the Cullinan. In the next few years, Ferrari will also offer its own PuroSangue SUV for sale.
If luxury SUVs are so popular, it’s because they’re often more affordable and practical than classic sports cars. This makes it easier to attract new customers.
More news coming soon
This boom period for luxury brands will not end. For the next few years, brands are planning even more novelties. Ferrari, for example, has announced its arrival 15 new models by 2026. The same goes for Lamborghini, which plans to release new models next year. Moreover, the following electric models will allow luxury brands to offer cars with even more stunning performance.
AND a reality that will take shape around 2025 for most luxury car manufacturers. Enough to keep the luxury car sector in good financial health.
