The international community is pressuring Mahmoud Abbas to implement institutional reforms, especially in preparation for the post-war period in the Gaza Strip, which is now ruled by Hamas.

Blinken assured Abbas of the support of the United States, which “looks forward to working with the new cabinet of the Palestinian Authority to promote peace, security and prosperity,” urging him to “implement the necessary reforms.”

The United States is putting pressure on the PNA in the hope that it can take over leadership in the Gaza Strip after the defeat of Hamas.

Thus, the head of American diplomacy emphasized that the “renewed” PNA is essential to achieve results for the Palestinian people both in the “West Bank and Gaza” and confirmed American support for “the creation of an independent Palestinian state with security guarantees.” for Israel.”

Anthony Blinken has visited the ANP headquarters in Ramallah, in the occupied West Bank, several times since the start of the war between Israel and Hamas on October 7.
