Health Minister Alexandru Rafila claims that the Romanian state did not build hospitals for the same reason “we did not build highways.” He said that Romania is stuck with deadlines and public procurement.

This was announced on Monday evening on the air of the Euronews TV channel.

“I think it’s for the same reason why we didn’t build highways. This is exactly the same reason. We are stuck either in public procurement files, or the deadlines that had to be met for the use of European money were not met,” Rafila said, according to News.ro.

In this context, Alexandrou Rafila admitted that “probably, we lost European funds.”

The health minister also said that by the middle of this year, “effective work” could be seen in the three regional hospitals in Iasi, Cluj and Craiova.
