The Minister of Investments and European Projects, Adrian Caciu, said on Thursday night in a show on Prima News that he is not satisfied with how much money has been spent from the PNRR (National Program for Recovery and Resilience), saying that Romania received 33% of the allocated funds and only 20 % received. “9.45 billion euros were received, and 1.95 billion euros were spent,” he said.

“We have to restore some delays in some areas. An important restoration has been done in the Ministry of Energy, but there is more… The Ministry of Education, Health Protection is being restored,” Kachiu said.

“It changed to a different way of working, the way of working became more flexible, it was very rigid when I came. We have introduced all kinds of mechanisms, including financial ones, so that the money reaches the beneficiaries faster. And reform coordinators began to work much more practically. Both Energy and Health are now contract champions. I’m not talking about the world champion, which is the Ministry of Transport, 16 billion euros, out of only 6 billion allocated,” added the Minister of Investments and European Projects, Adrian Cachu, according to News.ro.

He also said that there are investments in large infrastructure, and “we have both the budget and co-financing, a loan from the European Investment Bank, related sources that come to complement the money from the PNRR.” “At the moment, we have contracts with the PNRR for 36 billion euros, but the content of the PNRR resource is 21 billion euros,” he said.

Analytical meeting on April 15 in the Government

The minister stated that “Romania received 33% of the funds allocated in the PNRR, and we spent 20% of the money received.” “9.45 billion euros entered Romania, and 1.95 billion euros were spent,” he said, adding that 7.5 billion euros were still in the budget.

When asked if he was satisfied with this percentage, Adrian Cachiu replied: “No, and we will hold these discussions in the government, it remains to conduct a first fairly transparent assessment with all the coordinators of the reforms, at the level of the prime minister, in a separate meeting, on the takeover, On April 15, when we have the first three months of implementation, then we can know how much everyone has allocated.”
