In the courtroom on Thursday, Iorgulescu’s lawyer argued that the young man could not take part in the trial because he had been brain damaged since childhood, according to a test carried out in Italy using a highly effective medical device.

“This is an aspect that has been proven even in the appeals court. It is a highly effective medical device that, unfortunately, detected these irreversible diseases that he suffers from and played a role (in causing the accident – no). He cannot actually participate in the criminal process, because he does not understand what is happening,” said the lawyer, leaving the courtroom.

Also, the defenders demanded a change of legal qualification, arguing that Mario Iorgulescu, who is the son of Gino Iorgulescu – the president of the Professional Football League, should not have been tried for committing the crime of murder in connection with the occurrence of a road accident.

The Supreme Court postponed the decision on the cassation appeal of the defense of Mario Iorgulescu to April 11.
