Conspiracy theorists began talking about a deliberate attack just hours after the Dali container ship crashed into a bridge in Baltimore on Tuesday, despite the absence of any signs of any criminal activity, News.ro reported with reference to AFP.
This Singapore-flagged vessel collided with the abutment of the Francis Scott Key Bridge on Tuesday morning, collapsing like a house of cards.
Six people, workers who were engaged in plugging potholes on the road on this infrastructure, are considered missing.

After that, users of X and other platforms interrogated a range of alleged criminals, from terrorists to Israel.
Among the most popular theories is British-American influencer Andrew Tate, who assures X to his nine million subscribers that the Dali container ship was the victim of a “cyber attack.”
“The light was going out, and he was deliberately going to the overpass of the bridge,” writes the influencer, who is accused, among other things, in Romania of the case of human trafficking in an organized gang.
“Foreign agents are attacking digital infrastructures. nothing is untouched,” he continues.
These statements are taken by the founder of the InfoWars conspiracy publication, Alex Jones.
“It seems to me intentional. Possible cyber attack. The Third World War has already begun,” says someone who was convicted of questioning the reality of the 2012 Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre in the United States, in which 20 students and six adults were killed, AFP reports.
“There is no evidence for the theory”
The exact cause of the outage remains to be determined, but the drama occurred when the vessel suffered a “momentary loss of thrust”, according to port authorities.
CCTV footage shows the container port lights going out twice minutes before the collision, and smoke billowing around the vessel.
In these spectacular images, a ship veers off course and hits a bridge abutment, sending several of the bridge’s arches sliding into the harbor water.
The authorities immediately assured that they had not detected any evil act.
“There is absolutely no indication that this is an act of terrorism,” said Baltimore Police Chief Richard Worley.
According to Maryland Governor Wes Moore, “there is no credible evidence of a terrorist attack.”
But these statements did not stop the flow of rumors about X.
Some users made the connection between the tragedy and the detention on the eve of the United States during a vote in the Security Council on a resolution by which the UN calls for an “immediate ceasefire” in the war in the devastated Gaza Strip.
“Did Israel just hit the United States because they (the latter) didn’t use their veto yesterday?” asks one user in a post that has been viewed by more than 30,000 accounts.
Other posts mention the hand of the Islamic State (IS) group, and some discuss diversity initiatives for certain businesses.
Other posts claim that the bridge breach is a “bait” designed to attract people’s attention.
Synergy Marine Group, the operator of the container ship, which was assisted by two pilots from the Port of Baltimore during the collision, said the cause was yet to be determined, AFP reported.
None of the crew members were injured.
Experts dispelled doubts about the strength of the bridge, the arches of which have been destroyed over a large length. (News.ro)
