“The images of the shooting in Moscow are horrific and difficult to watch,” the White House said Friday after the gun attack in the Russian capital.

“Our thoughts are with the victims,” the US president said.

At the same time, on Friday evening, the White House warned Americans in Moscow to stay at home.

Up to five armed men in camouflage clothing opened fire with automatic weapons on people in the “Crocus City Hall” concert hall near Moscow.

Sources cited by Reuters said at least 14 were killed, but authorities have not released an official death toll.

Videos released by Russian news agencies show clouds of smoke and flames rising above the building where the concert hall is located.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova on Friday called on the international community to condemn the armed incident, calling it a “horrible crime.”
