The Ukrainian military notes that during the ambush, 3 tanks, 4 BMP and 6 other armored vehicles of the Russian army were destroyed.

The strikes, probably by artillery systems and unmanned aerial vehicles, were the “work” of the 79th Airborne Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This brigade is considered one of the elite units of Ukraine.

The fighters of this unit, veterans of the war in Donbas, started in 2014 by pro-Russian separatists in eastern Ukraine, were nicknamed “cyborgs” because of their stubborn resistance during the second battle for the Donetsk airport, which took place 10 years ago.

In the latest report on Russian losses, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine claims that Kyiv forces destroyed 6,809 tanks (19 of them in the last 24 hours) and 13,014 armored vehicles (+17 in the last 24 hours).

However, we remind you that this balance should be treated with caution, since the information war is being waged by both sides of the conflict.

Although the figures released by Kiev are difficult to independently verify, the British Ministry of Defense said in an estimate published in early March that February 2024 would be the month with the highest level of Russian military personnel losses at the start of the invasion.
