Sources cited by Bloomberg say that Apple is in talks with Google about the possibility of using Google’s generative artificial intelligence model on the iPhone in a few months. Apple also works with Google on web search.
Sources say the two companies are in talks, but no deal has yet been reached as Apple has previously held talks with other companies, including OpenAI, creator of ChatGPT. It is currently unknown whether Apple will reach an agreement with Google to integrate Gemini into the future iOS and the virtual assistant Siri.
If a deal is reached, the announcement won’t be made until June, when Apple’s big Worldwide Developers Conference takes place.
Such a deal would be a big win for Google and its generative artificial intelligence model Gemini, which launched in 2023 under the name Bard and has been controversial but is constantly improving.
With more than 2 billion Apple gadgets in use worldwide, Gemini will be visible.
And Apple is working on its own generative AI model, but it doesn’t seem to have gotten very far with it. Of course, the results of work on this model will be visible in the features that will be integrated into the iOS 18 operating system.
