Iga Sviatek reached the 23rd WTA final of her career, the world number one, with an emotionless victory over Marta Kostiuk in the penultimate act of the tournament in Indian Wells on Friday.

Svyanek needed just 64 minutes to win, 6-2, 6-1.

In her first WTA 1000 semifinal, Kostyuk (WTA 32) had to settle for not losing a set to zero against the Pole.

• It was Iga’s second win over Marta after 6-3, 6-4 at Roland Garros-2021.

• Thanks to the performance in Indian Wells, Marta Kostyuk will rise to the 26th place in the WTA ranking (the best ranking in her career).

• Iga will fight for the trophy with Maria Sakkari. They also competed in the finals of the 2022 tournament in the California desert, with the Polish woman winning (6-4, 6-1).

• Iga Svyatek has 18 titles and lost four more finals. Maria Sakkari, on the other hand, has reached the final stage of the competition for the tenth time, but has only won two titles so far.

The BNP Paribas Open is a WTA 1000 tournament that takes place from March 6 to 17. The game is played on a hard surface and the total prize pool is $8,995,555. Titled champion – Olena Rybakina.
