Nissan Leaf: That’s it, it’s retiring! Auto Plus news in your smartphone

There are machines that quickly go through manufacturers’ ranges and don’t leave much of a mark. And there are others, on the contrary, who have a strong influence.

A long career for the Nissan Leaf

Indeed, some models have a special meaning for the manufacturers who sell them, even if they have a very long and successful career. This is rare, but we can cite, for example Volkswagen Golf or the Renault Clio, among others, which have become true icons over the decades. This is also somewhat true of the Nissan Leaf, to a lesser extent. The electric compact car entered the market in 2010 and became a pioneer in the field of electric vehicles. However, the second generation had to face more attractive competitors and develop in a very competitive market. Its competitors include the MG4, Renault Mégane E-Tech, Volkswagen ID.3, Cupra Born and even Tesla Model 3. This is how the Japanese have lost popularity over the years in favor of these new products on the market. However, she still fought well despite the rivalry.

Nissan Leaf is leaving the catalog

That’s why the factory in Sunderland, England, will stop production of the Leaf this week. However, the last few months will still be on sale, probably with significant discounts. But this is not the end for the Leaf: the third generation is actually planned for 2026. This new version will have a silhouette closer to the crossover style and will benefit from significant technological advances. Currently offered is the Nissan Leaf at a base price of 30,900 euros or rent for €129 per month with €3,500 down payment. The next generation promises to be even more attractive and adapted to the needs of tomorrow’s electric drivers. However, we will have to be a little patient before we know more, although the manufacturer has not announced this at the moment. It will undoubtedly benefit from more autonomy, as well as a completely revised and modernized look.

We’ll be sure to tell you all about it when we know a little more about it!
