Hundreds of Russians lined up for the third day in a row Sunday at the Borysovsky Cemetery in southeast Moscow to honor opposition leader Alexei Navalny, who was buried on Friday after his sudden death on February 16 under unexplained circumstances.

Even families with children could be seen in line near the cemetery.

“The line is growing by the minute,” a supporter of Navalny commented on social media, EFE reported, citing Agerpres.

However, police closed the gates of the cemetery while people were still waiting to enter to pay their respects.

According to footage from the scene shared on social media, people threw flowers over the fence chanting “Let us in”.

Also, the rival’s grave is already covered with flowers.

Thousands of Russians chanted the name of Alexei Navalny and said they would not forgive the authorities for his death during the funeral of the opposition figure in Moscow on Friday. During the funeral, some dared to chant “Russia will be free”, “No war”, “Russia without Putin”, “We will not forgive” and “Putin is a criminal”.

Navalny, the fiercest critic of President Vladimir Putin in Russia, died at the age of 47 in an Arctic correctional facility on February 16, prompting accusations from his supporters that he had been murdered. The Kremlin denies any state involvement in his death.

Alexei Navalny’s associates began investigating the circumstances of his death in the “Polar Wolf” pre-trial detention center in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District, located beyond the Arctic Circle.

In the midst of the election campaign, Russian President Vladimir Putin did not comment on the death of the Kremlin’s number one enemy. By the way, Putin has never mentioned his name publicly
