
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reports that Spanish authorities have completed the process of identifying the victims of a fire in an apartment building in Valencia and confirmed the death of two Romanian women who were initially considered missing.
“Continuing the information regarding the situation with Romanian citizens affected by the fire that occurred on February 22, 2024 in a residential building in Valencia, the Kingdom of Spain, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE) clarifies that the Spanish authorities informed the representatives of the Consulate of Romania in Castellón from Plana reported, which completed the process of identifying the victims and confirmed the death of two Romanian citizens who were initially declared missing. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expresses its condolences to the family of the deceased,” MAE said in response to News.ro’s request.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs notes that the families of the dead Romanian citizens were informed by the Spanish authorities in accordance with the procedures.
At the same time, the MAE notes that the representatives of the Romanian Consulate in Castellón de la Plana are still in contact with the Spanish authorities and the Romanian citizens affected by the fire who requested consular assistance and are monitoring the development of the situation, with the aim of ensuring consular assistance/protection in accordance with their competence and in compliance with Spanish law.
Two Romanian women were listed as missing in a fire that engulfed an apartment building in Valencia. They lived on the 8th floor of a 14-story tower directly above the apartment where the fire occurred.
Ten people have been confirmed dead as a result of a large-scale fire in Valencia. It, caused by strong winds, exploded on Thursday evening in the affluent neighborhood of El Campanar.
