Sweden’s contribution to Euro-Atlantic security is significant, President Klaus Iohannis said in a social media message after the Hungarian parliament ratified the accession of this northern country to NATO.

“Today, conditions have been created for Sweden to join the NATO family. Its contribution to Euro-Atlantic security is important. With Sweden in NATO, we will strengthen the defense and deterrence position on the eastern flank and continue our strong support to Ukraine. Together we are stronger,” the head of state wrote on the platform of Kh.

On Monday, the Hungarian parliament ratified Sweden’s accession to NATO. eventually paving the way for this Nordic country to join NATO.

Sweden’s candidacy was approved by an overwhelming majority (188 out of 199) after almost two years of waiting.
