The match between Granada and Valencia has been postponed
“LALIGA announces the postponement of the match between Grande and Valencia, scheduled for tomorrow, February 24, from 14:00, and the match between Levante and FC Andorra, scheduled for the same day, from 21:00.
A postponement request by FC Valencia and FC Levante, which had the consent of their respective teams – FC Granada and FC Andorra – was approved following yesterday’s dramatic fire in Valencia which resulted in the loss of life. Three days of mourning have already been announced in the city of Valencia.
This suspension is in addition to the minute’s silence of respect and mourning that will be observed at all other LALIGA EASPORTS and LALIGA HYPERMOTION matches this weekend, as previously announced.
New dates and start times for LALIGA matches will be announced in due course,” LaLiga said in a statement, News.ro reports.
A fire destroyed two residential buildings in Valencia on Thursday. Five people died, about 15 are considered missing.
The Valencian club announced that it was “devastated” by the consequences of the fire.
“We offer our help to institutions and emergency services in any need,” added the club.
The men’s, women’s and academy teams observed a minute’s silence before training on Friday morning and the club will fly flags at half-staff at its facilities.
Firefighters were called to the scene at around 17:30 local time (16:30 GMT), and emergency services rescued several residents from balconies using cranes.
More than 20 fire brigades worked on the fire, which intensified due to strong wind.
Fifteen people, including six firefighters and a child, were injured, but their lives are not in danger.
Three days of mourning have been declared in the Valencia region.
