In addition, the American short-term rental platform reached $200 million in the local market last year, according to the draft “National Tourism Development Strategy of Romania” published in August 2023 by the Ministry of Economy, Enterprise and Tourism. , about 15,000 properties offered for rent on Airbnb:
“The sharing economy is increasingly becoming a phenomenon that affects Romanian tourism. For example, according to online statistics, Romania is represented by approximately 15,000 properties offered for rent on the Airbnb portal. About a quarter of them (3,910 objects in the first quarter of 2022) are located in Bucharest.”
