Romania’s women’s table tennis team, who have already qualified for the Paris Olympics, failed to win a much-coveted medal at the World Championships after losing 3-0 to Japan in the quarter-finals.

“Tricolor” was the most difficult opponent for the Japanese at the 2024 World Cup. After five decisive victories (in which they lost only two sets, both in the same match), the Japanese lost in three sets against Romania.

Bernadette Shox came close to a big win over Japan’s Mima Ito. In the decisive set, our athlete reached the score 9-9, but lost the most important points in the match.

Andrea Dragoman got off to a good start against Hina Hayata and won the first set 11-8, but the Japanese came back and took the next sets (4, 4 and 5) without emotion.

The most experienced player of the Romanian national team, Elizabeth Samara, was unable to cause too many problems to the Japanese Miu Hiraoni, who won in three sets.

• Japan will fight for a place in the finals Hong Kong (3-2 against Taiwan).

• China (3:0 – South Korea) and France (3:2 – Germany) will play in the other semi-final.
