
New fragments of the “Gherani-2” type drone were discovered on Saturday near the Moldovan-Ukrainian border, the Border Police of the Republic of Moldova reported, cited by NewsMaker and Open.md.
According to her, the fragments were found in a field near the town of Etulia Noua, Vulcanest district.
- “Today, February 17, 2024, at around 4:40 p.m., other fragments of the Gerani-2 drone (the Russian modified version of the Iranian Shahed UAV) were discovered near the town of Etulia Noua, Vulcanest district. The information was quickly transferred to the competent authorities, and access to the location of the discovery of the remains of the drone was restricted. Fragments of the drone were found in a field, about 2 km from the Moldovan-Ukrainian border line and about 5 km from the city,” the border police reported, according to Agerpres.
According to the cited source, the authorities have taken “all necessary measures to maintain order, peace and public safety.”
“In order to prevent the spread of false information and to avoid panic among the population, please keep calm and report only from the first source,” urges the Moldovan police.
The fragments were removed by experts of the Forensic and Technical Center of the International Criminal Court and are subject to examination.
