Maryana Vizoli, tax expert, author of the book “VAT from A to Z. A practical guide” spoke on this topic at the TaxEU forum. She reminded that the VAT rate has increased from 5% to 9% for access to bars, amusement parks, leisure parks, cultural events, cinemas or entrance to football matches.

It also increased from 5% to 19% for access to fitness facilities.

In addition, it increased from 5% to 19% for transport for tourist purposes. “The Danube Delta is affected because boaters will now have to apply a rate of 19% instead of 5%,” Visoli said.

As for transportation by gondola or chair lift, the VAT also went from 5% to 19%, and people who ski feel it. Let’s not forget that students are now entering their ski holidays.

“For traditional and mountain eco products, the application of the 5% quota has been canceled. Each product must be analyzed separately. I mean what are they? Food? Do they have added sugar or not? The share will be 9% or 19%, depending on which eco-products the economic entities sell,” she explained.
