Robert Badea will be second reserve in the 200m medley semi-final at the World Swimming Championships in Doha after setting a national record.

Robert Badia, a new national record in the age category of 17 and 18 years

Badia swam in the third heat and finished the race in 2:01.78, a new national record in the 17 and 18 age group, according to FRNPM.

Yulia Becheru’s pupil will be the second reserve in Wednesday night’s semi-final, which is scheduled for 19:29 and 19:35.

Minsuk Kim (South Korea) was the last athlete to directly qualify for the semi-finals with a time of 2:01.52.

In the 100 m freestyle, Patrick Dinou did not qualify for the semi-finals, showing the 33rd time in the series. The Romanian swam in the ninth heat and completed two lengths of the pool in 49.53.

Romania has five representatives in the swimming competition at the World Swimming Championships in Doha: Vlad Stancu, Denis Popescu, Andrej Angel, Robert Badea and Patrick Dinu.

In October 2023, coach Adrian Redulescu announced this David Popovich will not participate in the World Championship in Doha. The main goal of a swimmer is to get to the Olympic Games in Paris.
