Ons Jaber and Maria Sakkari were eliminated in the second round of the WTA in Doha

After losing to Sorana Kirstea at the WTA in Abu Dhabi a week ago, Maria Sakkari (9 WTA) was also stopped in the second round in Doha.

The favorite of Qatar at number 7, the athlete from Greece lost in three sets to the Czech Linda Noskova (28 WTA) with a score of 3-6, 7-6(2), 7-5.

Noskova will meet her compatriot Karolina Pliskova (59 WTA) in the round of 16.

After the elimination of the second favorite of the tournament, Coco Gauff, it was the turn of the third favorite to leave the competition.

Three-time Grand Slam finalist Ons Jabert (6 WTA) was defeated in two sets by Lesia Tsurenko of Ukraine with a score of 6-3, 6-2.

In the next round, Tsurenko (37 WTA) will fight for a place in the quarters with the winner of Petra Martic and Naomi Osaka.

Qatar TotalEnergies Open 2024 will be held from February 11 to 17. The tournament is held in Doha on hard, is part of the “WTA 1000” category and offers a total prize pool of $3,211,715. The champion of the title is Iga Sviatek (2022, 2023), and Simona Halep won in 2014.
