​Denis Popescu was unable to qualify for the semifinals of the 100-meter backstroke at the World Swimming Championships in Doha, our athlete stopped in the swims.

Bohdan Stroje’s student swam in the fifth race and finished eighth, showing a result of 55.33 seconds.

Overall, Popescu had the 25th time. Only the best 16 swimmers (out of 53) made it to the semi-finals, which will be held on Monday at 18:17 and 18:22.

The 100-meter backstroke final will be held on Tuesday at 6:59 p.m.

Denys Popescu will also swim the 200-meter backstroke at the World Championships in Doha.

Romania has five representatives in the swimming competition at the World Swimming Championships in Doha: Vlad Stancu, Denis Popescu, Andrej Angel, Robert Badea and Patrick Dinu.

In October 2023, coach Adrian Redulescu announced this David Popovich will not participate in the World Championship in Doha. The main goal of a swimmer is to get to the Olympic Games in Paris.
