Ronnie O’Sullivan pulls out of Welsh Open ‘suffering from stage fright’
Seven-time world champion O’Sullivan explained he was “suffering from stage fright” and did not feel ready to take part in the tournament at Venue Cymru (Llandidno).
“Good morning guys. I wanted to let you know that I have decided not to play in Llandudno next week. It’s hard to explain, but I’ve been suffering from stage fright caused by anxiety for several years.
It’s not something I can predict or control, but I try to control myself as best I can. I’m sorry for everyone who bought a ticket, but I can’t follow suit and show up whenever I want, and I think that’s what’s best for me right now.
I want to be closer to this tournament, so I will be working with Eurosport and I hope to see you there” – Ronnie O’Sullivan on X (formerly Twitter).
Ronnie O’Sullivan has won the competition for Wales four times (2004, 2005, 2014 and 2016). “Raketa” reached the finals twice (2008, 2021).
