​Hyundai joins the list of car manufacturers that want to launch small electric city cars in Europe with prices starting at 20,000 euros. The model is based on the architecture that is also used in the i10 model and may reach customers in the last months of 2024.

The electric model that Hyundai will bring to Europe will be based on the Casper, a sub-3.6-meter tiny car that the company sells in South Korea with a 1.0-liter gasoline engine.

The press writes that the version for Europe will be 20-25 cm longer than Casper from South Korea and will have an option with a starting price of 20,000 euros. The autonomy of the starting version will be more than 200 km.

The publication Chosun Daily wrote that the production of the electric version will start in July, the model will be presented in Europe in the third quarter and will reach buyers at the end of 2024. The car will be produced in South Korea at the plant in Gwangju. and then exported to Europe.

The cheapest Hyundai electric car in Europe is the Kona SUV, which costs 36,000 euros. The company certainly wants to enter smaller segments where it can sell in higher volumes, and Hyundai executives have said several times that they want to bring electric cars to Europe at affordable prices (20-25,000 euros).
