PNL president Nicolae Chuke admitted to Antena 3 that, having been in government since 2020, the PNL is subject to “image erosion”, but says the party has no reason to fear the upcoming elections. In this way, he responds to those who believe that the PNL supports the combination of several rounds of elections in order to gain an electoral advantage, according to News.ro.

“The National-Liberal Party assumed to go to the elections on its own, with the motto “Alone”. This is the motto we adopted not only to mobilize our party assets, but it is the motto with which we believe we can give Romanians confidence in what we have achieved, are achieving and will be able to achieve from now on. To be honest, I can tell you without restriction that we have nothing to fear or be ashamed to participate in the elections. It is true, we have been in government since 2020, and everything that this governance process entails, entails erosion, implies dissatisfaction, not all decisions met the expectations of the citizens. Then there’s that erosion that you only see in the polls when there are no numbers to scare us. We have nothing to fear, we have dealt with the government,” Nicolae Chuke said on Antena 3 on Tuesday night.

The ex-prime minister boasted of figures regarding economic growth, development of European funds, direct foreign investments and the start of large investment projects.

Chuke believes that the AUR’s electoral rating, which is very close to the PNL’s according to recent opinion polls, is a “mobilizer” for the liberals.

“We are mobilized by the fact that we must be closer to people, explain to people what we have done, admit what we have done, cover our heads with ashes for what we have not done well, people will appreciate this honesty and sincerity. . We have something that tells people what we’ve done. What will others say about what they did?” Chuke added.

Chuke believes that extremist manifestations will “further complicate” the situation in which Romania found itself.
