A spokesman for the New Mexico Judiciary said in an email that Baldwin’s arraignment in Santa Fe District Court will be virtual.

Baldwin’s lawyers did not respond when Reuters reported the news.

Earlier this month, when the new charges were announced, Baldwin’s attorneys, Luke Nikas and Alex Spiro, released a statement saying, “We look forward to our day in court.”

The criminal case against Baldwin began several months after the previous charges were dropped.

The new charges were brought in a New Mexico grand jury indictment after an independent medical examiner concluded that Baldwin pulled the trigger of a revolver he used during a scene rehearsal to fire the shot that struck Hutchins and killed her. .

This was also the conclusion of the FBI.

When prosecutors announced their intention to take the case to a grand jury in October, defense attorneys called the situation a “horrible tragedy” that “turned into this botched prosecution.”

Baldwin denied pulling the trigger and said he was not responsible for Hutchins’ death.

In January 2023, 65-year-old Baldwin was charged with involuntary manslaughter. Santa Fe prosecutors charged him with criminal negligence when the gun he was rehearsing a scene with fired and discharged a live bullet that killed Hutchins and wounded director Joel Souza.

In February, the actor pleaded not guilty, and prosecutors dropped charges of aggravated battery against the actor.
