
A 23-year-old man from Suceava County is under investigation for theft, arrested after he stole a minibus, left it with the doors open and the key in the ignition, and then sold the vehicle for 800 lei. The suspect was detained almost three months after the crime, writes News.ro.
The theft took place on November 3 last year in the town of Hura-Gumorului, where the driver of a minibus belonging to a local company left the car with the key in the ignition and the door open, and when he returned to the car, it was gone.
A man suspected of committing a crime was discovered on Friday, January 26, when the police stopped him on the road. It is about a 23-year-old young man from the municipality of Suceava Margin, who confessed to the crime and told the police that he had sold the minibus for less than 200 euros in the meantime.
“He was located and detained by the police, he was interviewed about the act he was accused of, during which he informed about the circumstances and the method of its commission. In fact, it was stated that on the night of 02/03/11/2023, the person in question entered a minibus that was parked behind a building located in the city of Hura-Humorului through an unlocked door and using a real key that was in the ignition lock, he started the minibus and stole it from there, later selling it to another person for 800 lei,” said representatives of the Suchav district police on Saturday.
The police detained the suspect for 24 hours, he is being investigated for the crimes of theft for the purpose of using and driving a vehicle without a driver’s license.
