Mini Cooper and Countryman: a stylistic duel

It’s hard to create a design as attractive as the original Mini. However, after the launch of the “new Mini” in 2001 subsequent generations continued to gain weight, and the rookie continues that momentum. The shoulders are wider than ever, the angles are a little more pronounced. But the big round eyes – now fully LED – remain. Inside, the dashboard is more refined than ever, but retains its large round multimedia screen, which now floats, giving the cabin a more spacious design. For launch, the new Mini Cooper is offered in E and SE trims. The former has a 184 hp engine powered by a 40.7 kWh battery that promises 305 km WLTP.. Performance is already serious, but with the 218 hp SE version. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.7 seconds 402 km WLTP thanks to a more powerful battery (54.2 kWh). From 44,000 euros for the Countryman

Countryman, for its part, erases the last curves that remained on the previous model for square muscles. Even the headlights are now angular, while the rear is more refined than ever. The interior follows the same trend towards simplicity as the Cooper, with trim that looks particularly neat. We find the same minimalist design as its younger sister, and the floating round screen is also there. Technically, this Countryman is very close to the new BMW iX1. Also offered in E and SE versions: two-wheel drive and 204 horsepower for the former, all-wheel drive “ALL4” and 313 horsepower for the second. Their respective autonomy is declared on 462 and 433 km according to the WLTP cycle. It is offered in four configurations: Essential, Classic, Favored and JCW starts from 44,000 euros in the all-wheel drive version, and in the all-wheel drive version – 49,500 euros. The range reaches €57,580 in JCW ALL4 trim…

This new Countryman is not limited to an electric motor, as it is also offered with petrol engines: a 1.5 liter with 170 hp. and 2.0 l with a capacity of 300 hp.
