​Emilio Nsué López has been the hero for Equatorial Guinea at the Africa Cup of Nations after helping the team to the last 16 with five goals in Group A matches.

Emilio Nsue (CF Intercity), five goals at the African Cup of Nations

Nsue made 30 appearances for Spain’s youth and youth teams, but opted to represent Equatorial Guinea at senior level (his father’s country).

Nsué, a right-back at CF Intercity (Spain’s third division), uses Juan Micho Obiang Biko as his attacking coach.

Emilio scored three goals against Guinea-Bissau (4-2) and two against Ivory Coast (4-0) as Equatorial Guinea topped Group A.

  • Nsue is national team mates with defenders Esteban Orozco (FC Arges) and Basilio Ndong (University of Craiova).
  • During his career, Emilio Nsue (34) played for teams such as Mallorca, Real Sociedad, Middlesbrough and Birmingham City.
  • Nsue scored 7 goals in 15 matches for Intercity this season.
  • Equatorial Guinea will play Guinea in the round of 16 of the Africa Cup of Nations.
