The State Mint is an autonomous agency operating under the supervision of the National Bank of Romania, and last year its budget was over 100 million lei. The institution is engaged not only in the issue of coins, but also in the production of medals, awards or jewelry, as well as in the sale of gold bars. In October 2023, by order of Governor Mugur Iserescu, new members of the Board of Directors of the State Mint were appointed. Of the four CA members appointed by the governor of the BNR, the fifth position remained vacant after the appointment of the Ministry of Finance, only two names represent new appointments to the board of directors of the region. We are talking about Laurentia Dumitra Andrey, an MFP expert since 1999, and since 2022 an adviser and chief expert of the BNR, and former PSD minister Dan-Mirce Popescu.
