Aryna Sabalenko lost four of her first five matches against Amanda Anisimova, but the reigning Australian Open champion defeated the American on Sunday to reach the quarterfinals.

Sabalenka became the main favorite of the competition after Iga Sviatek was eliminated on Saturday Linda Noskova (50 WTA).

Aryna needed only 66 minutes to defeat Anisimov 6-3, 6-2.

The athlete from Belarus won 87% of points from the first serve, scored 6 aces and 18 winners.

  • Sabalenka, who is ranked second in the WTA rankings, has lost just 11 games in her first four matches at the 2024 Australian Open.
  • Arina will fight for a place in the semifinals with the winner of the match between the Russian Mirra Andreeva (47 WTA / 16 years old) and the Czech Barbora Krejcikova (favorite 9).
  • Aryna Sabalenko won the 2023 event in Melbourne, beating Olena Rybakina 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 in the final.

Australian Open 2024 will be held from January 14 to 28. The reigning singles champions are Novak Djokovic and Aryna Sabalenko.
