At the Australian Open 2024, Sloane Stephens defeated Anna Kalinska

Stevens (44 WTA / 2017 US Open champion) and Kalinska (75 WTA) had a spectacular match of almost three hours, in which the Russian won with the score (8) 6-7, 6-1, 6-4.

Sloan led 3-1 in the deciding set, but Anna was aggressive in her response and had two breaks.

  • Anna Kalinska reached the 1/8 finals of the Grand Slam tournament for the first time. The Russian will play a duel with the Italian Jasmin Paolini (26th favorite).
  • Sloane Stephens achieved her best result at the Australian Open in 2013 (semi-finals). Since then, the American has been eliminated seven times in the first round and reached the round of 16 twice (2014, 2019).

Australian Open 2024 will be held from January 14 to 28. The reigning champions are Novak Djokovic and Aryna Sabalenko.
