In the category of large vans Peugeot has its Boxer, Fiat has its Ducato, and Citroën has its Jumper. This trio is not new, as all three have been assembled since 1994 at a joint factory in Val di Sangro, Italy. In fact, the partnership between the three brands is even older: Ducato/C25 and J5 there were already twins, and if we go back even further Fiat and Citroën have been associated since 1974 for their 242 and C35 !

What has changed since then is that from being a simple joint venture, the three brands are now sisters, part of the Stellantis group. Other brands in the group also benefit from this. This is the case from Opel/Vauxhall for its Movano, and from RAM, the North American truck division that has been offering it since 2013 under the name ProMaster. Finally, we will remember Toyota ProAce Maxwhich will arrive this year and which was born from the collaboration between Stellantis and Toyota.

At the end of 2023, the Franco-Italian-American groups left one after the other restyling versions of Ducato, Jumper, Boxer and Movano a few days before the presentation of the new ProAce Max. Finally, the style evolved to give them more individuality, especially in design of the grille, shield and headlights, which are now different. On board they received a communication accepting a a new 10.1-inch central touchscreen, as well as several driver aids to teach them how to accelerate safely. This applies, for example, to emergency braking assistance, front/rear parking sensors, crosswind assistance, drowsiness detector or even road sign detector. A few weeks after the European counterparts, it’s the turn of the American RAM Promaster to get an update!

So, let’s say right away: there are no aesthetic modifications compared to the present, unlike its cousins. It’s a shame, because the styling is quite dated, especially in the design of the taillights or the front bumper. On board, however, it gets all the upgrades mentioned above, though like its counterparts, cargo space and the volume of the rear trunk do not change.

Under the hood, however, there are changes. It is still offered with a diesel engine (JTD Fiat) and in V6 Pentastar (not available in Europe), and also in an electric version! It is she who develops the most, equipping herself na new 110 kWh battery that provides 261 km of autonomy in the city, it’s just a Ford and 203 km of his Transit. With a permissible charging power of 150 kW, it can be charged in about 55 minutes. It is certainly not a high-profile novelty, but at least it has the merit of bringing some freshness to the RAM that wants intensify its transition to 100% electric.
