After a serious exit from the singles, Sorana Kirstea was stopped in the first round and in the doubles at the Australian Open, the first Grand Slam tournament of 2024.

Kirstja teamed up with Croatia’s Donna Vekic and they lost to Demi Schuurs/Louisa Stefani 6-2, 7-5.

Nine favorites in Melbourne, the Dutch and Brazilians needed an hour and a half to win.

  • On Tuesday, Sorana Kirstya was defeated by China’s Yafan Wang in singles with a score of 0-6, 7-5, 6-2. The Romanian led 6-0, 3-0.
  • Romania has only one representative at the Australian Open 2024: Ana Bohdan (the team with the Iberian Rebeka Masarova) qualifies for the second round of doubles.
  • The winners of the last two doubles competitions were the Czechs Barbora Krejcikova and Kateryna Sinyakova.

Australian Open 2024 will be held from January 14 to 28. The reigning champions are Novak Djokovic and Aryna Sabalenko.
