Daniel Collins says he will retire from tennis in 2024

Collins (62 WTA / 30 years) led with two breaks (4-1) in the deciding set of the match against Iga Sviatek, but the world number one made an impressive comeback and qualified for the third round.

Danielle (2022 Australian Open finalist) announced at a press conference that the 2024 season will be her last at the WTA tournament.

“Now I’m kind of at the end of my career, and it doesn’t sting so much, to be honest. I feel like I’ve gotten to a point where obviously it matters and you know, my career means a lot to me, but at the end of the day you win or you lose and that’s all that matters.

In fact, this will be my last season competing. I don’t know exactly when it will end, but this will be my last season and I’m looking forward to it.

I feel like I’ve had a pretty good career. Of course, there were ups and downs. I think with all the travel, some of the things off the field, the schedule and all that, it’s a very tough sport.

I have other things I would like to achieve in my life outside of tennis and I wish I had the time to do them. Obviously, having children is a big priority for me, so…” – Daniel Collinsquoted by Tennis Majors.
