Renault is doing better, and Renault is sure to be even better in the years to come. Indeed, with 2024 promising to be a busy year and the commercial launches of the Scénic E-Tech and other R5 E-Techs, the two product series, 2024 should be even better than 2023 for the diamond company.
2023 was also a very successful year for Renault, despite the shaky economic context. In a press release published this Wednesday, January 17, Groupe Renault announced its results for the past year, marking a rather important turning point after four consecutive years of declining sales. The group (including Renault, Dacia and Alpine) posted a 9% increase in sales. 2.235 million cars worldwide in 2023.
Renault lifts the group to the top
Renault has become the best-selling French brand worldwide an increase of 9.4% from 1.548 million vehicles sold. This result occurred after 2022, when sales fell by 14.6%.
Renault’s favorable results are particularly pronounced in Europe, where this diamond brand has set a record volume increase by 19.3%, exceeding market growth by 13.9%. So, Renault rose to second place in Europe in terms of market sharea prominent position after fifth place in 2022.
Renault brand director Fabrice Kamboliv attributes this success to the success of several models, including Renault Austral, Espace E-Tech and Mégane E-Tech. The latter accounts for 2.2% of the electricity market in Europe, productivity “exceptional” according to him.
How are Alpine and Dacia doing?
As for Alpine, the special A110 series work well. Global registrations have ended 22.1%, or 4,328 cars sold. In Europe, the brand shows significant growth, in particular in Germany (+34%), Belgium (+32%) and France (+26%). 2024 will also be a busy year for Alpine: the presentation of the second model, the A290, the sporty version of the R5 E-Tech.
In Europe, Dacia sold 562,890 units. The brand enjoys growing success and records growth by 17.4% with market growth by 13.9%. Thus, Dacia gains four positions, now at 11thousand position on the European VP + LCV market. 2024 will also be a rich year for Dacia, with a new generation of Duster on our roads, as well as a very big restyling (and hopefully a price drop…) Dacia Spring.
