Jacqueline Christian was defeated by Kateryna Siniakova at the 2024 Australian Open

Jacqueline, ranked 83rd in the WTA rankings, was defeated in straight sets by Kateryna Siniakova (ranked 49th in singles) 6-2, 7-5.

Siniakova, the winner of seven Grand Slam titles in doubles (she also has Olympic gold, as well as the Tournament of Champions), needed an hour and 27 minutes to win.

• For participating in the main draw, Jacqueline Christian will receive a check for $81,180 and 10 points in the WTA singles ranking.

• This is Jacqueline Christian’s third loss of the new season after Siu Wang (Auckland) and Kimberly Birrell (Hobart).

• Romania has only one representative in singles: Sorana Kirstia (26 WTA / favorite 22) will meet China’s Yafan Wang (97 WTA) in the first round.

Australian Open 2024 will be held from January 14 to 28. The reigning champions are Novak Djokovic and Aryna Sabalenko.
