He was asked whether there is certainty that Ukrainian grains transiting through our country do not remain on the territory of Romania, Agerpres reports.

“These are measures related to a better management organization at our level (…) because you really rightly complained. Here we prove them right because we have to strengthen all these measures related to the transit of Romania and it is not by chance that we are introducing the electronic seal of goods. There are 2,000 seals that we intend to purchase and which, I hope, we will be able to put into operation by July 1,” Bolosh said at the end of discussions with transporters and farmers.

He added that all these things cannot be solved instantly, and from that point of view he has “the utmost understanding” of the demands of the protesters.

Regarding information that Ukrainian wheat is being sold on the black market in the Romanian market, Bolosh said that together with the Ministry of Transport, “we will have to be much more vigilant.”

“At this point, this is information we also have from discussions with you. Of course, here the public authorities, we through the Romanian Customs Service, and then the weighing that is carried out at the entry and exit of the country, together with the Ministry of Transport, we will have to be much more vigilant in taking measures.(…) From the discussions with you they said that there are ways in which, although we seal the goods, through hatches that open, a significant amount of material can be unloaded, which reduces the amount of goods transported, but these are things that we will check with the Romanian customs in the next period and we will establish specific measures to support them,” Bolosh said.

The head of the Ministry of Finance added that he would come up with a package of measures both in terms of simplifying border crossing procedures and strengthening measures for the transit of goods.

“So far, we have discussed with the Romanian Customs Service the prospects of simplified border crossing procedures and providing them with support in reducing the waiting time at customs. Here, the partnership is shared with the Ministry of Transport and other competent authorities, and of course, here we will come with a package of measures both to simplify procedures and to strengthen measures for the transit of goods, but we must take into account that before the electronic seal of goods we will still have these minor difficulties to solve your problems,” he also told Finance Minister Marcel Bolosh.

Protests by transporters and farmers will continue after fruitless negotiations at the Ministry of Finance on Sunday.

“No agreement was reached, no solutions were found. The protest will continue until the authorities realize that their inability to govern the country is real. Everything is motivated by the European Commission, PNRR,” said Denuc Andrus, the farmers’ representative for the discussions.

Transporters and farmers began a series of protests on Wednesday, unhappy with high excise duties on diesel fuel, RCA prices, as well as legislative changes that came into effect on January 1. They took to the roads of the country with trucks and tractors, at low speed, heading towards Bucharest, and traffic was blocked on several roads, including the Capital Ring Road.

On Monday morning, Prime Minister Marcel Çolaku will hold a working meeting with Deputy Prime Minister Catalin Preda, Minister of the Interior, Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Sorin Grindianu, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Florin Barbou and representatives of the Ministry of Finance, press reports – Government service.
