Reigning champions Sweden and one of the big favorites Denmark scored decisive victories in Saturday’s European Men’s Handball Championship matches.

Georgia – Sweden 26-42 / Greece – Denmark 28-40, at the European Men’s Handball Championship

The winner of the last EC men’s handball trophy emotionlessly beat Georgia 42-26.

Sweden controlled the game and led 23-9 at halftime. The second half was more balanced, but the ending brought a difference of 16 goals.

And Denmark easily beat Greece with a score of 40-28.

It was 20-13 in favor of the two-time European champions at half-time and the second half was almost identical, with the Danes on top after two rounds.

The surprise was the Faroe Islands, who drew 26-26 against Norway, one of the contenders for the trophy.

  • Matches in the main groups will take place on January 17-24 in Hamburg and Cologne.
  • The first two places from the main groups will advance to the semi-finals (they will be held on January 26).
  • The finals (small and large) will be held on January 28 in Cologne.
  • Romania last participated in the World Cup in 1996, when they finished the competition in 9th place out of 12 participating teams.
  • The title of European champion is Sweden (the title won in 2022).
