Sven-Goran Eriksson announces that he has terminal cancer

At the age of 75, Eriksson made a sad statement on the Swedish radio station P1. Last year, he resigned from the post of sports director of the Karistad football group.

“Everyone understands that I have a serious illness, everyone thinks it’s cancer, and it is. But I will fight it as long as I can. I know that at best I have a year left, and at worst even less.

I don’t think the doctors I have can be sure of anything, they can’t put a time limit. It’s better not to think about it” – Sven-Goran Eriksson.

He was in charge of the England national football team from 2001 to 2006, coaching players such as David Beckham, Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard. Eriksson led the team to Euro 2004 and two World Cups, writes News.ro.
