The electric car has been on the rise for several years, and its sales figures continue to grow. In France, its market share currently reaches 15%, and in Europe – about 20%. Figures that should continue to grow over the years as all manufacturers enter this market. Truth be told, they don’t really have a choice, as this engine will be the only one allowed for sale from 2035 across the Old Continent. Or almost, because it also applies to hydrogen.
There is an exception to the end of sales of diesel cars in 2035, voted by the European Parliament: luxury cars (Ferrari, etc.). Of course, there are not many of them, so the emissions will be limited, but for the symbol and social justice, it will be necessary to return pic.twitter.com/6gPS9lc6ZE

New engine
And some manufacturers also firmly believe in this solution, which is considered more ecological, but also more practical. This is, for example, the case of the French brand Hopium, but not only. Indeed, the German equipment manufacturer Bosch is also very interested in this technology. Thus, the latter took advantage of the CES in Las Vegas, which is currently being held, to confirm its interest in internal combustion engine with a fuel cell. For him, this hydrogen solution would be easier to develop, but not only that. Because there would actually be a lot of benefits, as the company explains in a press release.
Technology is important
To Paul Thomas, President of Bosch Mobility in the United States “ if we enter the segment of very heavy cars, we will not achieve this by electrification alone. We will need a transmission that guarantees the same flexibility as a diesel or gasoline engine“. As such, this technology will be particularly useful for very heavy vehicles such as SUVs and trucks, among others. But it can also have many advantages in consumer cars.
