David Sanchez and Rob Marshall, transferred to McLaren from Ferrari and RedBull

The British team dropped engineer James Key, but announced two acquisitions in the technical department. These are engineers David Sanchez and Rob Marshall.

The Frenchman Sanchez spent his career in Renault F1, then McLaren, and since October 2012 he has been part of the Scuderia Ferrari project.

In March 2023, David Sanchez announced his divorce from Ferrari and, after a break of several months, returned to the world of the Great Circus, at McLaren. The Frenchman is currently the team’s technical director for the car’s concept and performance.

The other transfer is that of Rob Marshall. The Briton will be part of the executive technical team alongside David Sanchez and Peter Prodrome. He will be assisted in his new role by Neil Holdy, who has been promoted to Deputy Technical Director of Engineering and Design.

After 17 years at RedBull, Marshall decided to move to McLaren.

At the age of 55, Rob Marshall teamed up at RedBull with Adrian Newey and contributed to Sebastian Vettel’s titles from 2010 to 2013.

Zach Brown, CEO of McLaren, announced the arrival of the two engineers on his personal Twitter.

McLaren finished the 2023 Formula 1 season in 4th place with 302 points.
