During each vehicle test, the Auto Plus laboratory conducts its own measurements completely independently. And given the high prices of fuel at gas stations, it is important to know the real consumption of various compact SUVs on the market. You could save a lot in the end. Here is a ranking of the most economical compact SUVs in diesel, gasoline and hybrid versions.

The most economical diesel compact SUV

Dacia Duster 1.5 Blue dCi (115 hp)

The most reasonable compact SUV is the Dacia Duster in the 1.5 Blue dCi version. It is even the most economical of all compact SUVs with all engines combined. What can we say about Duster, except that it is one of the best sellers in France in this category, together with Peugeot 2008 and Renault Captur. In version 1.5 blue dCi 115 Duster shows an average consumption of 5.3 l/100 km.

The most economical compact petrol SUV

Suzuki S-Cross 1.4 Boosterjet Hybrid (129 hp)

At the top of the ranking of the most economical compact SUVs, we find the Suzuki S-Cross in the 1.4 Boosterjet Hybrid version, which develops 129 hp. with an average consumption of 6 l/100 km. Having appeared after the 140-horsepower version, the 129-horsepower S-Cross, of course, loses in power, but its consumption also falls, and the driving pleasure is preserved thanks to the increase in torque.

Under the S-Cross we find the Dacia Duster again, this time in the 1.3 TCe version (130 and 150 EDC), which shows an average consumption of 6.9 l/100 km. But he is not the only one who demonstrates this consumption. You also have the Mazda CX-30 2.0 Skyactiv-G (122 hp) and the BMW X1 sDrive20i (170 hp), which shows an average consumption of 6.9 l/100 km.

The most economical hybrid compact SUV

Kia Niro Plug-in Hybrid (183 Ch) I Hybrid (141 Ch)

In the first position we find two versions of the Kia Niro. A hybrid version (183 hp) and a simple hybrid version (141 hp), which consumes 5.6 l/100 km. Please note that the consumption test of the plug-in hybrid version was conducted without using 100% electric mode. And surprisingly, it consumes the same amount as the non-rechargeable version, despite weighing 120 kg more.

Below the Kia Niro you will find the Lexus UX 250h 4WD (184 hp), which shows a consumption of 6.1 l/100 km, or 0.5 l/100 km more than the Kia Niro. Then again you have Suzuki S-Cross in version 1.5 Dualjet Hybrid (115 hp), which consumes 6.2 l/100 km.
